Webcam Test
Check that your camera works before a call or stream — live preview, resolution, frame rate and a snapshot.
Check your camera in seconds
Press Start camera and allow access. If you see yourself in the preview, your webcam works. The panel below shows the resolution and frame rate your camera is really delivering — handy before a video call, an online class, a job interview or a stream.
Webcam not working?
- Permission blocked: click the camera icon in the address bar and choose Allow, then reload.
- Camera busy: close Zoom, Teams, Discord, OBS or other apps that might be using it.
- Black image: check the privacy shutter or the function key that turns the camera off on many laptops.
- Windows/macOS privacy settings: make sure browsers are allowed to use the camera.
- Low quality: pick 1080p above, add front light and clean the lens.
Next, run the mic test, check your internet speed for smooth calls, or use the phone diagnostic on a mobile device.
Frequently asked questions
How do I test my webcam?
Press Start camera and allow camera access when your browser asks. A live preview appears along with your camera’s resolution and frame rate.
Is the video uploaded or recorded?
No. The video stays in your browser. Snapshots are created on your device and only saved if you download them.
Why does it say permission denied?
Your browser or system blocked the camera. Click the camera icon in the address bar to allow access, and check your operating system’s privacy settings.
Why is my webcam not detected?
Make sure no other app (Zoom, Teams, Discord) is using the camera, reconnect USB cameras, and check that a physical privacy shutter is open.
What resolution is my webcam?
After the camera starts, the page shows the resolution the camera is actually delivering. Use the quality buttons to request 720p or 1080p.
Can I test my microphone too?
Yes — use the mic test to check your microphone level and record a short sample.
