How to play Klondike Solitaire

Klondike is the solitaire almost everybody means when they say “solitaire” — the one that shipped with Windows and quietly ate a few million office hours. You deal seven columns, dig out the Aces and build each suit up to the King. Turn 1 is the friendly version; turn 3 is the one that makes you think two moves ahead.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Klondike solitaire really free?

Yes. Every game on BreymanTech is free, runs in your browser and needs no account or download.

What is the difference between turn 1 and turn 3?

Turn 1 deals a single card from the stock each click, so every card is reachable. Turn 3 deals three at a time and you can only play the top one, which makes the game considerably harder.

Can I undo a move?

Yes, undo is unlimited — press the undo button or the U key. Restart deal replays the exact same cards if you want another attempt at the same puzzle.

Are all solitaire deals winnable?

No. With turn 1 about four out of five random deals are winnable with perfect play; the rest are impossible no matter how well you play.

Does it work on a phone or Chromebook?

Yes. The board scales to your screen, and you can drag cards with a finger or just tap a card to send it where it fits.

How is the leaderboard time measured?

The clock starts on your first move and stops the moment the last card reaches a foundation. Only finished games are saved.
